Why I love horses
I have been crazy about horses for as long as I can remember. My love has turned into a passion and the passion into a lifestyle. I spent the majority of my youth growing up in Sweden, where I fell in love with Fjords. I spent every weekend cleaning stalls at local barns in trade for riding. I spent every summer at horse camps and took lessons as often as I could. There is no doubt in my mind that horses have shaped who I am today. They have taught me to be patient, forgiving, hard working and consistent.
Today my passion is passing on the amazing experience of horsemanship and the unparalleled feeling of accomplishment you get when you're confident in your ability to communicate with such a magnificent animal.
My Teaching Style
I believe that in every interaction with your horse, you are teaching it something. You may be teaching it something good or something bad. Even if you are not paying attention, your horse is. I teach my students how to become teachers. They learn how to communicate with their horse and why horses do what they do. My primary focus is on safety. Not only for my students, but for the horse as well. We learn all styles of riding; english, western, trail, jumping & bareback. However, I do not compete or show nor do I get into technical riding skills. My focus is on horsemanship, safety, communication, and FUN. If you take lessons from me or lease a horse from me here is what you can expect to learn:
- How to clean a stall
- How to feed a horse
- How to care for the health of your horse
- Proper use/storage of tack & equipment
- Basic horse anatomy
- How to safely lead a horse
- How to be safe on the ground with your horse
- How to gain the respect of your horse
- How to build your confidence
- How to mount your horse safely
- How to stop your horse safely
- How to build your confidence as a rider
And that's just the beginning!
Our facility has a covered arena, a round pen and 60+ acres to ride on.
